Come As You Are

The first record that meant anything to me was when I was 11 years old hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit for the first time. Soundgarden, STP, and everything else made sense then. You heard that song and thought; "yeah this is it..".

Keep in mind the first actual record I heard and remember quite vividly was (remembering my parents had a lot of records)... was Gimme Shelter on Let It Bleed from the Rolling Stones. When I was younger I pulled out the record with a song I knew and genuinely liked as a 6 year old and played it over and over again with Bob Seger and Fleetwood Mac. It was music to my ears so to speak.

I remember about 15 years ago introducing my dad to Nirvana. He liked Come As You Are because there was no "bullshit".

Indeed Dad.

I took this of him a year ago and i'm proud of it as this is how he is. He is used to his daughter with a camera - so no need to pose.

"A Different Life"

I dont have much to say tonight.... all is good now. I mean after all the worst is the fact I could be captured by a Somali pirate....

I was listening to NPR on my drive back and remembered a program I heard a few days before. A young man around his mid 20's struggling with Velo-Cardio-Facial syndrome. It's the second most common genetic disorder. It affects thousands of Americans, many of them have no idea it is cause of their learning disabilities. This young man knew a child with Fragile X Syndrome and mentioned how similar some of the symptoms are. I almost called into the show to ask how his parents tell him they dealt with it, but I didnt. His book is the title of my blog, which I intend to read.

He said something that struck me which was how his doctors told him he's never be able to do math... in high school he excelled in Algebra. His thought on this? You can do Anything you put your mind to.

Indeed.

The first image is his version of bowling.

The second is him burping his baby after feeding 'him' a cheeseburger - this imaginary play is very crucial....

If only we could all be this happy.

Glory Box

I'm so tired, of playing
Playing with this bow and arrow
Gonna give my heart away
Leave it to the other girls to play
For I've been a temptress too long

Just. .

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be, a woman
I just wanna be a woman

From this time, unchained
We're all looking at a different picture
Through this new frame of mind
A thousand flowers could bloom
Move over, and give us some room

So don't you stop, being a man
Just take a little look from our side when you can
Sow a little tenderness
No matter if you cry

For this is the beginning of forever and ever

Its time to move over...

- Portishead

Everyone should see this glorious woman:

My uncle is in this hospital tonight - has been for the past 3 days. Internal bleeding which caused a massive heart attack. Colon or stomach, we'll find out tomorrow. He's one of the greatest people to walk this earth. He's kind, giving, happy, never upset (i've never once seen him angry or sad my entire life), always willing to help without anything in return. We could all learn a thing or two from him and people like this.

I miss being happy for no reason.... well for a big reason without realizing it...

"Special Olympics"

For some reason our media is trying to blow up what President Obama said on a late night entertainment talk show recently.

I'm not sure people from the Special Olympics are that outraged but let me say I am in no way offended. As a mother of a special needs son I did not find it offensive at all. People that do, really need to check their emotions and why they are upset.

It's almost like being upset at someone who says something is; "retarded." Typically they are just trying to find something to pick a fight over, have anger issues, or are incredibly sensitive/defensive.

Focus on positive things, not a minor comment made that was in no way trying to be insensitive or making fun of.

The 35-year-old McConiughey has been bowling since he was 8 or 9. His advice for Obama? Practice every day.

Now THIS is how people should have reacted. This is coming from someone with special needs.

Get a grip people.

Drive

Drove back to Ohio today. I love driving to North Carolina but not from there. I always have a great time while there. Productive as well but mostly spending time with my girl Lauren is the shit.

Lots of wine, film, Kitteh, Bojangles, and of course cant forget the gangsta rap.

Im exhausted so here's what I developed:

"No!"

Aidan said this yesterday. I literally fell on the floor. I was taking his tray from his highchair (because he was eating something messy and i'm a neatfreak) and he didnt like that. So he said; 'no'. He knew what he said and probably wont say it for a long time if ever... but I heard it and I hugged him.

I've developed a whole 3 rolls in the past week. I'm almost addicted to it... well that's not a good term to use. Most neighbors would probably think i'm running a meth lab by now.. I'm glad i live in a progressive comminity where no one cares what anyone else is doing unless it includes themselves.... mm fixer.

I have 3 rolls to develop. I'll do one tomorrow and two on Thursday. Yeah..... and I hope Scotland is on one of them...

Boston in less than a week. Wicked awesome.
